I don’t have much to say about this strip today, except that I rewrote the punchline a few times. When I do that, rarely, have a good feeling on if it is funnier or not. I end up using the shorter of the two or three options because my biggest strip writing problem is OVER- wording the gag/story. That’s the most challenging- and rewarding- thing I’ve found about writing comic strips- trying to make a clear idea/story/gag that communicates in as few words and in simple illustrations. There is an art to it that Peanuts, Baby Blues, and Zits- to name a few of my favs- have mastered to the point of excellence! I could go on and on….
If only I could apply the same brevity to this blog also.
